Meaning:
Bai: hundred Hui: meeting
Baihui is at the vertex, and a meeting place of the three foot-yang meridians, the liver meridian and the governor vessel (Dumai).
Location:
7 cun directly above the midpoint of the posterior hairline, or at the junction of the midline at the vertex with the line joining the two ear apexes.
Functions:
1. Extinguish Liver wind and subdue Liver yang (Headache, dizziness, insomnia, vertigo).
2. Clear senses and calm spirit (mental disease, loss of memory, depression).
3. Lift up fallen Yang Qi and discharge blazing heat in Yang channel (prolapse condition, strengthens Yang function of Spleen).
Indication:
1. Treat dizziness (acupuncture for the Excessive syndrome and moxibustion for Deficiency syndrome)
2. Treat diseases of the brain: insomnia, forgetfulness, stroke, psychosis, epilepsy, various kinds of headache.
3. Prolapse of rectum, prolapse of stomach or uterus, prolonged diarrhoea.
